/tɪktakˈfoʊbiə/
noun
The fear of TikTok.
Symptoms[]

- Immediate feelings of intense fear or anxiety when confronted with thoughts or actions relating to TikTok, including but not limited to:
- Crying
- Difficulty breathing
- Dry mouth
- Feelings of impending doom
- Heart palpitations
- Nausea
- Racing thoughts

- Sweating
Causes[]
Tiktokphobia is a common, yet under-researched disorder. There are currently no known causes of Tiktokphobia, although this phobia is most frequently concentrated in the ethnic group, Redditors (/ˈrɛdɪtərz/).*
It may be caused by cringe content that’s uninteresting for them, or getting stalked, molestered, or harassed on the platform.
Treatment[]
Due to lack of funding and research, there are currently no known treatments for Tiktokphobia. But many professionals will suggest cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), or simply limiting one's interactions with TikTok altogether (though that will be hard since its everywhere right now).
*Note: There seems to be a strong correlation between Redditors and developing fears to TikTok-like apps, such as Musical.ly.
