Sapphophobia is the fear and/or discrimination towards people who are sapphic. Someone who is sapphophobic might be also purely homophobic, or they might hate only non-men who like non-men for whatever reason. This includes: lesbiphobia, biphobia, panphobia, omniphobia, polyphobia (towards female/female-aligned/neutral-aligned people of these orientations). Some reasons why a person could be sapphophobic is:
- one dislikes people who like women in general
- one is homophobic
- one doesn't think of lesbophobia as good enough term to explain their feelings
- one is being sexistic
- cishet religious people who are queerphobic
