Anti Piracy Screen

Piraticaphobia (Pronounced Pie-rati-ca Phobia) (From the latin term, "Piratica" meaning "Piracy") is the fear of anti-piracy and/or error screens. hen encountering an anti piracy screen, sufferers may scream, sweat, have an increased heart rate, rapidly breath and even close their eyes.

Causes[]

It may be caused by seeing too much disturbing anti piracy videos on YouTube, or perhaps running into one themselves, and is commonly suffered by young children.

Anti - piracy screens are often purposely made dark and creepy to make the thief scared to pirate games.

Some features of an anti-piracy screen that might scare a child are:

  • Characters looking sad, gaming characters in child's media are usually happy and go - lucky, so to see them sad might disturb the child.
  • Dark background, such as black screens create a sense of uncertainty or danger.
  • Threatening messages, such as warnings, legal consequences, or accusations that make the child feel guilty or fearful.
  • Strange or distorted faces, such as skulls, masks, or glitches that look creepy or unnatural.
  • Slow, sad music, sad slow music that opposes to the music the child is used to will likely make the child feel unsafe or in pain.

Treatment[]

Mild sufferers of this phobia may simply avoid looking at anti piracy screens, mid sufferers will avoid pirating media, while severe sufferers will not play video games, sleep with the light on, and even avoid looking at text. Sadly, there is no cure for this phobia. However, it can be (kind of) treated while thinking about positive thoughts.
