Ommetaphobia or ommatophobia (from Greek ommeta meaning "eye") is the fear of eyes. Sufferers would not touch their eyes nor making eye contact. Sufferers will feel extreme anxiety especially when seeing eyes, manifesting itself as shortness of breath, dizziness, shaking, palpitations, excessive sweating, nausea, and panic attacks, as well as obsessive thoughts about eyes. The phobia is treated using hypnotherapy.
This phobia sometimes is triggered by seeing eye diagrams and getting stuff such as astigmatism, sand, or dirt in your eye.
