Judeophobia (more commonly known as antisemitism) is fear, hatred, and/or prejudice against of Jews or/and Judaism.
Causes[]
Judeophobia - or antisemitism - is mostly caused by experiences, influences, and indoctrination.
As with any ethnicity or religion, Judeophobia is partly caused by bad experiences with certain people who happened to be Jewish.
Indoctrination and violence[]
A large part of Judeophobia is caused by indoctrination. Conspiracy theories falsely claim that anyone who happens to be Jewish is either an "elite", a "parasite", or "guilty of killing Jesus Christ" [even though Jesus himself was Jewish]. This often leads to violence or murders towards Jewish people - with the biggest example of this rhetoric being the Nazi German regime of Adolf Hitler, where thousands of Jews were killed in prison camps as they were seen as less-than-human. This attitude continues to persist among extremists and ultra-nationalists in the West and Middle East, who continue to blame Jewish people over various social problems.
Part of this violent aspect of Judeophobia was also related to the country of Israel and the actions of its army, government, and nationalists towards Palestinian Arabs. Certain extremists take out their anger against ordinary Jewish people, collectively blaming them over Israel and falsely accusing them of manipulating society - even though most Jewish people are not privileged or powerful. Extremist violence in Israel against underprivileged ethnic Arabs also worsens this hatred against Jewish people, causing people to associate any Jew with those particular extremists.
Symptoms[]
Judeophobia is either identified by avoidance towards the Jewish religion or Jewish people. It may also escalate to paranoia and hatred against anyone perceived to be Jewish, or even violence.
Treatment[]
To resolve Judeophobia, you need to consult a psychiatrist or a doctor if this is affecting your mental health.
An easier way to resolve Judeophobia is simply to ask other people what are Jewish people really like: they are just ordinary people like you. Or simply, ask an actual Jewish person, especially a friend who can trust you, about any wrong ideas about their people.
