Archiphobia (from the Greek word Archi, litteraly meaning start) is the fear of being at the beginning. Beginnings can be difficult for many reasons, including Fear of the Unknown, which can be challenging when facing new obstacles and challenges offered by beginnings. The fear of what comes next, that unpredictability of a situation, is not easy to accept. Often, one can stay frozen in front of opportunities because of fear to take a step forward.
Triggers for Archiphobia can include milestones such as going to college, starting a new job, a new relationship, or moving to a new location. While for many these events may seem like cause for celebration, these events can also cause anxiety in those affected by Archiphobia.
